April 2011

Despite only being half way through the month April has already been very busy for the Centre. On the first Saturday of the month we held our second fundraising event of the year aimed at those looking to buy gifts for Mothers Day and managed to raise almost £200 for the Centre.

The end of the following week had Endeavour, an organisation that aims to work with young people who are out of Work or Training, move in as tenants in the building. We are looking forward to working with them in the coming years to help support young people in the local area.

On Saturday 10th April Oban House hosted the 'Ganbare Japan' Fund Raising event organised by the Japanese community. The event was raising money to help children in those areas most heavily affected by the devastation caused by March's earthquake and tsunami. By all accounts the event was a success with over 600 people in attendance across the day.

On the 16th April Voluntary Action Broxtowe is holding another table top sale between 11:00am and 2:30pm. Further details of this event can be found on our Events page [Link].

February 2011

In February, due to the worsening state of Government Grant Aid and the extra costs involved with moving to new premises, Voluntary Action Broxtowe ran its first fund raising activity of the year. This table top sale went very well and we managed to raise over £550 for the centre. We are planning on running further fundraising events throughout the year, which will be advertised in both our newsletter and on this website.
